Caught My kitchen on fire Tonight Part 2

The after math

One thing I didn’t mention was the day before yesterday, on Wednesday we had a new water heater and furnace put it in, so imagine i was so excited to making such necessary improvements on our house.

Like one minute we are upgrading, the next I’m almost burning it down.

But thats not why I’m telling you even though it is ironic.

Okay remember after the fire we could not find our cat Tiny? So we were searching the basement looking for him and guess what Joey smelled?

Freaking gas! I don’t know how i didn’t smell it.

Or the tons of fire fighters didn’t smell it.

But sure enough we had gas leak from the installation the day before.

Now that I was specifically smelling for it, it was strong.

Mind you the furnace is in the downstairs kitchen which semi- attached to our 17 year olds bedroom room. Thank God she is in Florida visiting her grandfather and biological mom. Imagine if she would have been sleeping in her room? Thank you God she was NOT!

Maybe the firefighters and i didn’t smell it because the house was stinky with smoke, but because joey wasn’t here during the fire his sense of smell probably registered differently.

It’s weird because I noticed myself getting dizzy each time i went to look for tiny in that area of the house. I thought it was just my anxiety.

But it made complete sense when joey announced he smelled gas. Now I understood why I’d been dizzy.

We couldn’t find where it was leaking from. So Joey just shut the gas off. And called the tech who installed it.

But can you imagine if the fire extended through the house with a gas leak, our whole house would have blown up!!!

We could be dead.

If tiny had not hidden we may not have smelled the gas!

Joey had just came back from getting cortisone shots in his neck because of his accident in 2018. (thats a whole other blog!!) but he should have been laying down.

He only got up to help me because i was crying over my missing cat.

The tech came today, turned gas back on found the leak, tightened it up.

And life was semi back to usual. We still have no electricity in the kitchen and cook on the stove, but who cares? Grand scheme of things- We are Alive.

Talked all day to insurance and claims adjusters today. But…

Tonight on the phone I told my friend everything that happened yesterday, and today, she said, “Damn its like that movie final destination”

I said, “I feel like someone got a hex on me, but they don’t know I’m protected”They came but GOD SAID IT ain’t SO!!

I mean I know I’m not indivisible. I will die someday but Gods got work for me to do.

I openly place a hedge of protection over me. Though a thousand may fall at my side, none that come against me shall prosper!! I don’t know the whole bible but i know God!! I trust him. Only God can say when its my final destination.
