I remember In jail I use to get my hair braided and it would take my friends hours to do three Recs in a row . Then my tender headed self would get a migraine and have to take them all out. Whichever friend who braided my hair would be like, “I ain’t never braiding your hair again.” But they would…
Thanks for all the girls from inside for all the hours you spent braiding my hair .
The best part of my braids besides the professionalism With which they were always done was the way it felt to have your hair braided. The human touch the one thing that most guards didn’t protest was us getting our hair “did” well there were those few that frowned upon it and declared it illegal!!!
But that was the one instance where we could get human touch like a gentle hair massage for hours.
But most of my friends were tight braiders. Probably the tension from being locked inside and away from all that they loved. I knew that feeling.
But yeah I never realized it then.
Whenever a friend said “oh let me braid your hair.” I’d be like “ok next rec see you at the table by the window at 5 on the door”
“Whose working hopefully someone good.”
“Let’s hope”
🤞🏼
Yeah those were the days. I don’t miss jail one bit. I miss my friends though.
All of the people whose friendship and support helped keep me alive.
Yeah braids bring back good memories.
Joeys oldest is coming over maybe I’ll have her braid my hair this week.
Yay 😁 I’ll take pics and let you see how it looks… stay tuned
