The Dance of Fate By Tracie Bernardi Guzman
I stood in the center of the Dance Floor all alone,
He appeared out of nowhere and offered to take me home.
I stared at him directly in his eyes and somehow,
I could hear their unearthly cries.
It was not music or laughter; they were sounds of horror people who didn’t live happily ever after.
I heard the rage in his voice, knowing he was evil I still made the choice.
He extended his hand and asked me to dance,
I looked at him and immediately fell into his trance.
I knew that what I was doing was wrong, but how could I resist? The Juke Box was playing my favorite song.
We danced and we danced until our feet could stand no more,
I asked to sit because my feet were sore.
He said yes like any gentleman would, I began to confuse bad with good.
He was far too charming and polite; those nasty rumors could not possibly be right.
I was the perfect victim for his trap,
I fell right into his lap.
I was trusting and young, so willing to believe; he knew I’d be easy to deceive.
At the end of our time together he practically dropped me off at the prison gate,
By the time I realized for sure who he was.
it was much too late…. I had danced with the Devil.
