When your words have not worked

Others see your folly and try to reroute you.

They stand with you as a shield from your own stupidity.

 

They try to save you by replacing your words with theirs-

they literally put the words in your mouth.

You need them.

But they your helpers don’t know the facts.

They are participating out of sympathy.

You understand this yet you draw them

in with your untruth just the same.

You spew their words.

You think these words will

Exempt you from the consequences.

 of the reality you created.

 

By using the words, they gave you and sprinkling in

Some of your own- With a well-placed tear

You think you have hit your mark.

 

But they don’t

Like a kitten’s meow in a crowd of a billion yelling men,

The words they gave you fell on deaf ears.

Ears deafened by too many lies,

Silent souls laughing in the dark,

I try not to.

 

The focus is all wrong

The words when combined with actions.

Don’t mesh.

 

It’s no wonder it’s not convincing.

 

If you gave them as much as you gave me

Someone might believe you.

Even I might.
