Connecticut passed a law that generally bans discrimination in the rental of housing based on a person’s criminal conviction status. The law, effective from October 1, 2024, prohibits housing providers from refusing to rent to someone solely because of their criminal record, with certain exceptions

For example, housing providers can consider felony convictions that occurred within the past three years or more than three years ago if the applicant was incarcerated for at least three years and released up to one year before the rental application. However, they must follow specific procedures to determine if an applicant is suitable for tenancy
