This is an original song/poem written by Tracie Bernardi Guzman
The world is not at all but I expected it to be
But I am a million times more than than they said I’d be.
All the chaos I survived inside was so meant to be,
Because of all that drama I now can navigate this thing called free
For many years I had to live without the right to exercise my voice but today I do everything by my choice
I am free to speak out against what I believe is wrong
I am free to hold my head high
And Nolonger care if I belong
My life is not dictated by anyone’s ideas or rules and I can walk away from negativity and fools
I obey laws because they are just and right not because of bullying and fright
when I hear someone say things that are judgmental or racist
I’m the one who makes them face it
I call them out and help them recognize the error of their ways
I don’t just cower and hide and let things slide
I speak up and speak out
I advocate for the under dog
That what I’m about.
And if people don’t like the way that I am,
Then no hair of my chin they can just scram.
I strive to be the best I can be
And give back to my community
I want to create unity
And express love and care
Give people support when they feel like no one cares
All because when I needed it most I was given grace,
That’s why every day I work to
help make the world a better place,
