What I learned this week after the kitchen fire

1. When your insurance company says $500 deductible thats not a benefit to you.

2. If your pot catches on fire and its oil- throw the lid on the pan to suffocate the fire.

NEVER EVER EVER PICK UP A TALL PAN THATS ON FIRE and throw it out your house!!!

3. Never leave your stove attended while cooking. (not even for 2 minutes!!)

4. Never leave your phone by the stove while cooking. If a fire happens and it gets Smokey you wont be able to see where it is to call 911!!! Also it could melt or catch on fire thank God mine did not.

5. When someone installs a furnace and water heater in your house- don’t let them leave until they have tested throughly for gas leaks.

6. Always check and purchase new fire extinguisher never assume the one you find in you new house or apartment is good,

Being in prison for 23 years leaves a person disenfranchised and ignorant to the realities of the outside world- just another form of collateral damage!! Not knowing how to cook, not knowing what to do for a grease fire, not knowing because I was in prison-the land of arrested development and disenfranchisement.

  1. This just goes to show that our human justice system is distinctly inhumane and injust. The sad part is most of them don’t even realize that they are committing an injury to themselves. They forget that most of us will be released and become someone’s neighbor and by keeping us ignorant they are making themselves possible collateral damage…that simple stove fire could have easily become a 3 floor inferno. It’s sad that most will not realize this truth until it’s too late.
Thank God you and your family and pets survived this and will now continue to thrive. Who will charge the “justice system” for their criminal negligence?…
