If you step on a crack you break your mothers back, if You break a mirror you have 7 years bad luck- no I don’t believe these things!!

Are you superstitious?

First of all, I’m sorry, mommy if you’re reading this, but when I was a little girl, I can remember hearing that saying and jumping all over the cracks because I wanted to see if it was true and I don’t think I really understood the gravity of what would happen if it was true. But I know it’s not true because like I said, I jumped on a bunch of cracks on the sidewalk at recess as a kid and nothing ever happened.

However, I have broken a mirror and I feel like I got alot more than seven years bad luck, but I don’t necessarily associate that with the mirror.

I did hear the saying when you’re walking down the street don’t split the pole and people have split the pole so maybe that could’ve been counted for some of my bad luck. But honestly, I’m being facetious. I don’t really think any of that accounted for my bad luck and I don’t even actually think my luck was bad luck after all.

Things that feel terrible and bad at the time can later turn out to be very beneficial and very purposeful.

But I wouldn’t consider myself superstitious although I have heard all the sayings and I’m probably guilty of even saying some of them in times when they felt appropriate. like find a penny, pick it up for all the day you’ll have good luck. That’s when I’m guilty of saying and hoping that it’s a true superstition if there ever was one.

I don’t believe the one about black cats crossing your path . I have a black cat in fact, I have three black cats although only one is pure black and they constantly cross my path I don’t believe that they’re bad luck. I actually believe that cats are divine animals spiritually connected to us and I believe the vibrations of cats purring is healing.

I’ve also told the kids not to open their umbrellas in the house, but I’m not so sure if that’s been about superstition or just because I remember hearing it as a kid.

Oh, I know another one that I’m guilty of if my ears are ringing I tell people to pick a number and then I guess who could possibly be talking about me based on the letter of the alphabet that number is. That’s always a fun one so I guess I am a little superstitious. I mean I don’t really believe it, but I’m definitely someone who repeats them and when they seem like a nice superstition, I find myself hoping it comes true.

I knock on wood alot and sometimes I catch myself and say never mind knock on God cause he’s the only one that can help you. Because I know that that’s true and I know the wood really can’t help you.

I do get a little antsy when I see my husband put his hat on our bed. So maybe a little bit I just fear the worst. But when bad things happen I definitely don’t suddenly think back to the hat on the bed and say oh my God, I think the hat caused it. Lol when I was sitting in solitary confinement for seven years, I did wonder is this because I broke that mirror? but then if I really thought about it, I know I had to take accountability for my own actions and know that it had nothing to do with the mirror.

So I guess I can’t really say I’m not superstitious nor can I say I am superstitious.

I’ll just say I’m semi superstitious here and there. But the main thing that I believe in is God. I’m very very spiritual, and I don’t think that has anything to do with superstition at all.

What do you think? Are you superstitious?
